Terrarium Workshop (Friday)

Appreciate the little things through building your own terrarium. Conservatory Curator Colten Blackburn will guide you through the process as he shares design, planting, and care techniques from many years of caring for the tropical Bolz Conservatory. Bring your own container to accommodate 3-5 small plants as well as any figurines you bring with you; all other supplies will be provided. More information about container size and materials available upon request.

Chair Yoga (4-week series)

Chair yoga allows you to be guided through stretches and traditional yoga poses while seated and standing, using a chair as a home base. The chair serves as support to your foundation and allows these positions to be more accessible. Guidance through breath exercises and meditation will be a main component of this class to enhance your overall body awareness.

Reading Group: The Simplicity of Cider

Time to get into summer beach read mode with the charming novel, The Simplicity of Cider. This story features a prickly cider-maker whose routine is disrupted by the arrival of a handsome farm hand and his young son at her family’s orchard. Set in Door County, this book will have you ready to celebrate being home in Wisconsin. Participants are encouraged to read the selected book prior to the discussion. Books are not supplied but are available at Schumacher Library, partner libraries, and the Madison Public Library system. Ages 16 and up with an adult This discussion will be held at the UW Arboretum Visitor Center on Wednesday, May 15, 6:30-8 p.m. Instructors: Eva Stefanski, Horticultural Librarian at Olbrich Botanical Gardens; Marian Farrior, Restoration Work Party Manager at UW Arboretum; Karen Dunn, Librarian at Steenbock Library
