Little Sprouts: Story & Stroll

Little Sprouts programs are nature and literature-based early childhood programs designed to meet the multidimensional learning and developmental needs of children ages 2-5 years. Each class is designed for children to work side-by-side with their adult caregiver as they engage in hands-on, fun, age-appropriate experiences that support the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards. Little Sprouts Story & Stroll classes include a story, theme-related learning activities, and a stroll through the outdoor gardens or conservatory. Ages 2-5 with an adult; adult attends free.

Understanding the Atmosphere: Severe Weather

Learn what conditions lead to severe weather and how atmospheric ingredients come together to produce it. Basics of instability, shear, atmospheric capping, and vorticity will be explained in order to provide an understanding of how thunderstorms work and how they produce tornados, hail, and strong straight-line winds. Previous enrollment in Weather Basics is suggested, but not required.

Discovery Day

Youth and their families are invited to explore the wonders of the Bolz Conservatory at the Discovery Cart on the education patio from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on the first or second Wednesday of the month in January and February. Gardener's Bootcamp

Thinking about gardening and not sure where to start? You’re not alone! Whether you have gardened for years or never picked up a trowel, this class will benefit you and your landscape. Your instructors will share years of horticulture experience with you as they touch on basic plant biology, demystify fertilizing, share current gardening trends, and tips for purchasing plants. Together we will discuss common mistakes, Olbrich tricks, and must-have garden tools (hint… there’s not many!).

All About Owls

Owls are incredible birds! Join us to learn about owl adaptations and what owls eat. Class included hands-on learning activities about owl adaptations, an owl pellet dissection, a stroll through the outdoor gardens, and a take-home activity.
