Summer Pollinator Plant Sale

ONLINE ONLY! Wisconsin is home to over 400 species of wild bees, and more than 120 species of butterflies. As the moon rises, over 1,500 species of moths awaken, ensuring round the clock pollination and these are just the more well-known pollinators! These tiny superheroes pollinate over one-third of our food, making their health and survival a critical component of earth’s ecosystem. Every little bit helps – don’t have space to dig in the dirt – create a pollinator focused container for your patio! Olbrich’s Pollinator Plant Sales offer a variety of perennials with plentiful amounts of nectar and pollen, making them very appealing to pollinator insects! Plant pickup is June 26.

Shinrin-Yoku: Forest Bathing at Olbrich

In Japanese Shinrin-Yoku loosely means, “forest bathing,” or immersing oneself in the atmosphere of nature. An introductory 30-minute talk provides insight to Shinrin-Yoku, followed by a gentle, slow-moving, and silent walk through the gardens. Your guide will provide the prompts that make this a deeply sensorial experience. Take-home prompts and a light refreshment will be provided. Please dress for the weather.

"My Garden, My Daylight": Nature Poems by Jorie Graham (2-part class)

Jorie Graham is one of the most important poetic voices of the last fifty years, often noted for her long-line style, abundant presence of thought, and persistent reference to the natural world. In this class, we’ll take a look at differing perspectives on the ‘nature of nature’ in Graham’s poetry, and engage in a short session of freewriting to finish the class. This class is a 2-week series on Tuesdays June 4 and 11.
