Plants are great, but it's the people that make our garden special.
Discover the secret to a thriving garden even in the chill of Winter. Join us for an enlightening Winter Sowing workshop, where you'll learn the art of sowing seeds outdoors during the Winter months without expensive equipment or constant management! This innovative technique takes advantage of the natural cold to kick start the germination process, ensuring robust and resilient plants come Spring.
Of Time and Turtles immerses readers in the delicate work, observed by Montgomery and Patterson, of protecting and rescuing sea turtles. It is a hopeful, optimistic blend of science, memoir, and philosophy that draws on cultures from around the world to create a compassionate portrait of turtles, the rescuers that work tirelessly for their welfare, and the future of their homes in the wild. Participants are encouraged to read the selected book prior to the discussion. Books are not supplied but are available at Schumacher Library, partner libraries, and the Madison Public Library system. How much does this event cost? It's free! Instructors: Eva Stefanski, Horticultural Librarian at Olbrich Botanical Gardens; Marian Farrior, Restoration Work Party Manager at UW Arboretum; Karen Dunn, Librarian at Steenbock Library
