Bike for Butterflies Virtual Lecture - Simon Saville

Join us for a special virtual lecture by an inspiring professional working hard to bring more attention to butterfly conservation. Learn about how they combined long biking journeys with their passion for butterflies. Simon Saville has had a life-long passion for butterflies, having been raised in the rural south of England. He is an active volunteer and trustee of Butterfly Conservation, the only UK charity dedicated to saving butterflies, moths and the habitats they depend on. He now lives in London and encourages people to explore, enjoy and improve the green spaces near where they live and work. There’s nature under our noses, even in a metropolis like London! Simon’s virtual lecture will recount his 2021 adventure, when he combined another passion - cycling - with butterflies and embarked on a “Bike for Butterflies” journey along the whole length of Britain. Starting at Land’s End in the south, he rode 1,200 miles finishing at John o’Groats at the tip of Scotland 30 days later. Every day, he visited a different wildlife site to promote the cause. Doing so, he raised over £30,000 for Butterfly Conservation.
