Wisconsin Butterflies Watercolor Class

In this class, you will learn how to paint four different types of butterflies found in the state of Wisconsin: a Monarch, a Giant Swallowtail, an Orange Sulphur, and a Red-Spotted Purple. During our 2 hour class, I will guide you step-by-step in painting this 5x7 inch painting. This class is perfect for beginners as your design is printed directly on your watercolor paper and all supplies are included. Learn to paint with professional, quality supplies!

Bring a shallow 6-10” pot (or we’ll provide a plastic one) to take your tree home in, and gloves if you prefer.

Designer Jay Sifford believes that “a garden should be an immersive environment laced with magic, art and story, a place where people, plants and wildlife interact in meaningful ways, and a stage upon which people can live out the best versions of their lives.” Join us as Jay shares his personal discoveries from 20 years of garden design, plus lessons from other designers. Learn how to create a magical, immersive, and profound space. He will share tips on rhythm, lines, shapes, and light; creating theater using scrim; and the power of emotion. Sifford’s work has been featured in several books and publications including Fine Gardening, Southern Living, Country Gardens, Garden Design, and SouthPark Magazine. LUXlife magazine named him "North Carolina's Most Outstanding Landscape Designer” in 2021.

Watercolor Spring Themes: Flowers, Birds and Insects

Enjoy a fun day painting spring themes with watercolors. Join us to practice both Eastern and Western watercolor techniques, such as, wet-in-wet, glaze, and dry brush, on a variety of Asian rice papers and to learn the calligraphy for each of the subjects: peony, iris, orchids, morning glories, plum blossoms, egrets with bamboo, small birds, frogs and dragonflies. "My Garden, My Daylight": Nature Poems by Jorie Graham (2-part class)

Jorie Graham is one of the most important poetic voices of the last fifty years, often noted for her long-line style, abundant presence of thought, and persistent reference to the natural world. In this class, we’ll take a look at differing perspectives on the ‘nature of nature’ in Graham’s poetry, and engage in a short session of freewriting to finish the class.
