If you want a garden that truly rocks, look no further than a gravel garden. Earth-friendly gravel gardens require less of just about everything – water, mulch, energy, chemicals, and most importantly labor – and give back so much more! Jeff Epping, former Director of Horticulture at Olbrich Botanical Gardens for over 25 years, will show you how to replace conventional lawns, expensive annual plantings, and labor-intensive perennial beds with these easy-to-maintain gravel gardens, just as he has done at Olbrich and elsewhere.

“Move like a great river; be still like a mountain” instructs the age-old description of the meditative exercise and movement art of T’ai Chi Ch’uan. This class offers standing movements and seated practices rooted within the Chinese tradition of Tai Chi and Chi Kung for the enrichment of body, mind and spirit. All physical abilities welcome, including those in need of chair-based practice.
This informal tour of what’s happening in the Herb Garden is sure to delight both experienced and aspiring herbies! Horticulturist Erin Presley recaps the summer and the techniques that contribute to the garden’s bountiful, beautiful displays. This fall class is a sequel to the early summer session in June and will touch on how we adapted to the season’s weather, fall harvest and overwintering tips, and highlights of the Hmong Garden.
Nourish your body and come alive with spring! Your instructor will kindly guide you through gentle, opening postures using the breath and a focused mind. Some postures will be restorative in nature and others will flow with the breath to break up stress and tension from everyday life. Through meditation we will bridge the mind and heart allowing your energy to feel lighter and brighter, improving your overall experience in your day to day living.
