Behind the Scenes of Olbrich's Spring Flower Show
Setting up Olbrich's Spring Flower Show takes weeks of work and the coordination of many people. A group of horticulturists and garden staff start with an empty room and transform it into a spring oasis. This web page will show the daily behind-the-scenes changes as Olbrich's Spring Show evolves. Check back often to see the progress!
Olbrich's Spring Show is open March 6 through 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Horticulture staff spread mulch in the tropical garden area.

The English garden is beginning to take shape with rustic benches and an arbor, green shrubs, and a statue.

The first of the spring plants are brought into the Spring Flower Show to add color and wonderful spring scents.

A bright purple wall is dotted with shelves...check back to see what ends up on them!

Inverted pyramid planters from Olbrich's Rose Garden find a temporary home in the Spring Flower Show.

The tropical garden is starting to take shape. The reflecting pool is almost ready to be filled with water and large tropical plants make it feel more like a jungle!

This year's show is designed so that the visitor won't be able to see the entire room from one vantage point. But, in certain places like in front of this doorway, visitors will see glimpses of a few different "secret gardens" at the same time.

In the Mediterranean garden, water will flow through a fountain made of broken terra cotta pots.

Horticulture staff members paint the walls.

Walls are constructed to divide the room into smaller "secret gardens." Each garden will have a different theme.
