Butterflies and Blooms
January 10 - April 4
Sundays, 11 am - 5 pm
Madison-area photographer Ann Thering captures glimpses of fleeting butterflies through her camera lens for an exhibit titled "Butterflies and Blooms" at Olbrich Botanical Gardens from January 10 through April 4. The exhibit is open on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm
From stunning images of butterflies basking in the sun, sipping nectar on flowers and floating through the air, to the striking detail of individual scales on their wings, Thering's exhibit focuses on the true beauty of butterflies in their native habitats. Thering hopes to share the special moments, subtle patterns, textures, and rhythms she experiences innature with the viewer through her simplistically beautiful photographs.
"You can discover that the underside of many butterfly wings is often more eye-catching than the upper side. Or that the Eastern-Tailed Blue butterfly's antennae and legs are striped, tiny works of art," Thering says in her artist statement.
