Giving Opportunities

Help keep Olbrich Botanical Gardens growing more beautiful with a donation to the Olbrich Botanical Society!

  Remembrances and Tributes
Remembrances and tribute gifts recognize a special individual.  The donor is acknowledged in writing for his/her gift and recognized in Garden News, a quarterly newsletter of Olbrich Botanical Gardens.  In addition, the person being honored is recognized in Garden News.  If requested, gifts will be acknowledged to a family member or friend of the person being honored.

Tribute Trellis
New in 2007 is Olbrich's Tribute Trellis. An outdoor, custom-designed trellis which features engraved plaques, the Tribute Trellis is the perfect way to recognize a special occasion or remember a loved one. For a specific donation, your personalized message will be inscribed on a plaque and placed on the leaf-shaped trellis for three to five years. At the end of that time, the plaque is returned to you or your designee as a lasting remembrance of your special connection to Olbrich Botanical Gardens. For more information about the Tribute Trellis call 608-246-4724.

  General Donations
Olbrich Botanical Gardens continues to grow thanks to generous donations from people who have been inspired by its beauty. Indeed, almost half of Olbrich’s annual $2 million operating budget is funded with donated dollars!

General donations are used wherever the need is greatest ... to purchase thousands of spring bulbs, to fund a fountain, to create new education programs, or to support new exhibitions and displays.  In addition, there are also opportunities to support specific projects with a major gift.  Donations are always welcomed!

  Olbrich's Wish List
Olbrich seeks funding for a number of special programs and projects, both new and on-going. Review Olbrich's Wish List, and contact Connie Beam at 608-246-4583 or cbeam@cityofmadison.com for more information.

  Planned Gifts
Gifts to Olbrich Botanical Society made through wills and estate plans provide on-going support to the Gardens.  Specific bequests to the Olbrich Botanical Society can be made in a will or trust, or the Society can be named as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, a gift annuity, or a retirement plan.  Generally these gifts are placed into the Olbrich Endowment Fund, which makes an annual distribution to support the operations of the Gardens.  This annual distribution is guaranteed, which means that Olbrich will be here for our grandchildren and their grandchildren to enjoy!

The Michael B. Olbrich Legacy Society
Those who have made a planned gift to Olbrich Botanical Society are eligible to be a member of the Michael B. Olbrich Legacy Society, a group that recognizes these givers during their lifetimes.  The group gathers once each year for a special luncheon and tour of the Gardens.

Recognition:  Donors’ Arbor and Garden Benches
Olbrich recognizes donors for their gifts in a number of ways.  With permission from the donor, Olbrich recognizes cumulative giving to the Gardens starting at $5,000 with a plaque on the Donors’ Arbor located in the center of the Gardens.

Individual gifts of $10,000 can be recognized with a plaque on a garden bench.  Currently, bench recognition is available in the Thai Pavilion and Garden.

Additional recognition opportunities such as tribute stones and column plaques are available during fund-raising campaigns.
